12 Things You Need To Slay This Holiday Season
If you follow me on Instagram you’ll see that I’m currently running a holiday campaign, the 12 Slays of Christmas which shows 12 things you need to slay this holiday. The purpose of this campaign is to align my readers with tips I learned from brands that I love, to help them get prepared for the holidays in style!
Festive face masks: vaccine or not, you’re still gonna need a face mask this holiday so why not make it festive or fashion? In my opinion, fashion face masks are great stocking stuffer gifts. It tells the person you care about their safety, but also their style (especially if they’re cute like these I found on New York and Company).
Cardigan: cardigans are perfect for that in between fabulous and lounge look. It shows more effort than a sweater but not as polished as a blazer and I found this cute, comfy and cozy one at New York and company with leopard prints. You can literally wear cardigans on date night, brunch, the movies, Christmas shopping runs, or even lounging in the house. This makes me think of my next item...
Lounge sets: lounge sets are like an upgrade of pajamas that you can actually wear out and dress up. You can wear lounge sets while working from home, grabbing coffee, lounging in your bedroom, or even happy hour. The cool thing about anything that’s a two piece matching set, is that you don’t have to stress about matching it with something, the outfit is complete already! I also found some cute sets on Amazon here.
Sweater dress: here are two words to describe a sweater dress: comfy luxury. The comfort comes from the cozy sweater material that doesn’t hug you or feel too tight like most dresses. The luxury comes from the fact that it’s a sweater with details such as buttons, ties, cowl necks, bell sleeves, etc. New York and Company sent me a red me that I absolutely love how it sits comfortably on my curves. Click here to find it and other amazing styles.
Thigh bands: typically during the holidays, we women wear dresses and skirts and if you’re like me, our thighs will rub together and it can cause pain. Don’t get me wrong, I love my thighs but I don’t like the chafing. Luckily for me, I found this brand called The Bandalettes that created sexy (because anything with lace is sexy) thigh bands to prevent chafing. They have multiple styles and colors for you to wear on your next holiday outing, or even date night ;)
Glam accessories: accessories can amplify any outfit. If you’re going to the store with jeans and a t-shirt, and you throw on some pearly poppin hoops, or a blingy headband and a crossbody bag, it'll change the game! Trust me, I know, that’s why I added them to my slay bells ringing list on Amazon.
Fashion boots: boots are the perfect balance between a heel and a sneaker. Some people only wear them in the fall and winter season, but true fashionistas wear them all year round. I love boots because they are the only shoes that you can wear with shorts, skirts, dressses, jeans, leggings and it’s a LEWK!! Boots take your outfit from yas to yasssss and I found some really cute ones here on Amazon.
Low maintenance wig: wigs are my passion, they provide instant beauty with minimal effort and they protect your natural hair underneath. Some women ask me what’s the difference between a sew in and a wig, and I always tell them that a wig is basically a sew in that you can take off whenever you want to. Wigs come in a variety of styles, colors and lengths and the key to making sure you slay this holiday is wearing the right one to fit your lifestyle. For example, if you’re pretty chill, then you’ll probably like the shorter wigs or straight hair because of the low maintenance they have. To learn more about wigs, check out my wig guide that teaches the basics of wigs. If you already know wassup with wigs and need to purchase a new one, click here to shop my wig collection. All of the wigs are named after my favorite desserts by the way!
Lashes: if your hair is poppin, then your lashes need to be poppin too, it’s nonnegotiable! Whether you like it or not, our lashes say a lot about us. Luckily for you and I both, Amazon has a variety of styles for LOW prices. I got an entire pack of 12 pairs for just $9 and typically that’s the price of one or two good quality ones.
Press on nails: press ons are the ultimate slay game changer when it comes to your nails. I personally have had bad experiences with acrylic when my nails broke, causing unnecessary pain. Then with gel nails, once they start chipping, you have to go in and get an entire new set. With press ons, life is just more easier because if they break or pop off, you can literally pop them back on within seconds. Plus a lot of companies are designing them with more details such as coffin shape, rhinestone details, French tips, custom colors, and more! I found some amazing ones on Amazon and static nails.
Skin care: good skin care is the best way to slay. I’m currently on a skin care journey and one of the things I learned was that your skin is representation of your self care. Taking care of yourself involves what you eat, what products you use on your skin, getting facials, addressing your skin issues and not covering it up with makeup. Good skin care relies heavily on the products you buy and of course, it’s an investment. This is why I use Skinucations products on my skin. All of her products are natural and works perfectly for skin correction. Check it out here and make sure you tell her I sent you!
Sequin dress or blazer: so previously I mentioned a sweater dress, but a sequin dress is only to be worn on special occasions (if you’re bougie, everywhere you go is a special occasion so you MUST have sequins). Sequin dresses give off the ultimate holiday magic Christmas spirit vibe and it’s a head turner. Most sequin dresses fit tighter so you want to make sure you go a size larger in them. However, if you don’t like sequin dresses, you can always add a sequin blazer to any outfit and it’ll make it look festive (plus you don’t have to put much thought into your jewelry). I found this really cute sequin dress on amazon which you can see here!
I hope these suggestions help you slay this holiday. With this pandemic, many people have put less thought into getting dressed up, not even for work and I’m a firm believer that whatever you wear dictates the type of day you’ll have. I don’t know about you, but I want my holiday days to feel fabulous. The holidays are a time to enjoy family, food and the little things that matter in life, why not look good while doing it?
Oh and if you enjoyed this, be sure to check out my Christmas Gift Goodies list from some items I found on Amazon. There’s a gift suggestion for every kind of girl including the wine lovers, fashionistas, stay at home moms, etc.
Happy holidays!
